A Year and a Half in the US
It's been nearly a year and a half since we returned to the US from our European assignment. Looking back, the only proper description of this time would be "different." A quick recap of the past 18 months:
We arrived back in the US in early August and spent a week with Janet's family in the greater DC area. I had to drive our dog across the country since domestic airlines weren't flying them at the time. We moved into the house that we bought from afar, and immediately, I started my new job and the kids began school a week later.
We lived out of suitcases for about a month before our belongings started showing up. Multiple house projects ensued, and then we were at Christmas. We traveled to Florida to spend time with my family, then it was back to Colorado for the return to school, multiple ski trips, Spring Break in Arizona, summer camps and more.
Yes, I know, the preceding paragraphs were very concise and not very detailed, but our trip reports are forthcoming. Over the last 18 months, many of our Germany friends have returned to the US themselves, and we've been reminiscing about our time abroad. We went back over our travel log and while we didn't nearly travel as much as some of our friends, we were still impressed by what we accomplished knowing the ages our boys were.
